THE NEWS WAS SO HOT, people were wide-eyed and sweating when they talked about it. Tim Yap, creative director of the Philippine Daily Inquirer's Super section, high-profile PR maverick, entrepreneur, model, product endorser, and the unofficial but widely acknowledged prince of Manila night life, had been asked by the Editor in Chief to "take a break" from the nationally-circulated broadsheet...

I think the tone of the rise and fall and the hopeful rise of Tim Yap is something that has to be removed from this situation. Things change and whatever warrants as a loss is indeed a personal matter. Tim’s moving on in the different chapters of his life with much bravado, he faces this without any feelings of bitter loss or failure. I just feel so bad that people seem to have forgotten the many joys he brought, from the silly and mundane to the brave and outlandish.

He didn’t curiously disappear to Paris when this happened, we were planning it months ahead together. I ended up the one flaking.

He always remembered those who were really there for him, maybe that’s why he never forgot anyone’s names. Many see it as a slick PR act, I see it as a sign of sincerity. I’m no naïve fan of Tim, we have gone through many things together even quarrels and this is why I know he is a genuine person. I’ve lost many friends and gained much more, Tim has always been a constant. He is loyal, honest and giving. He is easy to hate but better to love. I hope that readers will also see a different side to this story. I felt it only had one voice. If you are telling his story is it not fitting to let those who know him best speak as well?

Respectfully,
Celine R. Lopez
